Thesis - Urban Revitalization of Kaka'ako, Honolulu, Hawaii

This thesis proposal, "Reconnecting Honolulu - The Urban Revitalization of Kaka'ako," will explore a reconstruction of the urban and architectural elements of Kaka'ako, an area of urban Honolulu. Kaka'ako is situated on Honolulu's waterfront, in between downtown Honolulu and Waikiki. The area is currently rundown but would be an ideal mixed-use community to reconnect two already vibrant areas of Honolulu. This thesis will propose a new town center for Kaka'ako and an overall redesign of the urban conditions.

This thesis is currently ongoing in Design Studio, and images and information will be updated until its completion in late Spring 2005. Click any image to view all. View the preliminary proposal (13MB .pdf) here.
